S110 BEGINNING BOBBIN LACE
Jitka has an MFA in Fine Arts
from the Prague Academy of Applied Arts in her native Czechoslovakia. Her
major area of interest was in hand-made Bobbin Lace which she studied under
Marie Vankova-Kuchynkova. She created her own designs for hand-made and
machine-made Bobbin Lace, incorporating contemporary aesthetic trends into
this traditional craft. In the Bloomington area she has given several demonstrations
and lectures on the history of lace, the variety of styles and the techniques
used to make it. She has taught many students through Indiana University
programs, Yarns Unlimited, and privately, beginner through advanced, who
were interested in rediscovering this old technique of making lace by hand.
