artist with a BS in Textile Design. She has been involved with fiber for
25 years and has presented workshops for Guilds and Conferences throughout
the Eastern United States and Canada. She has written many articles for
Shuttle Spindle & Dyepot magazine, in which she explores her fascination
with fibers and the processes that utilize them.

S310 COLORING OUR WORLD: A POTPOURRI FOR WEAVERS & SPINNERS. Class is cancelled. Sunday Morning Mini-Session, 9:00 – 11:30 This seminar will focus on the processes involved in the coloring of fiber, yarn and/or fabric. Some of the areas to be covered will include the techniques of natural dye ing, synthetic dyeing (acid and reactive dyes), and food colorants used as dyestuffs. Color will be explored through the areas of randomization, gradations and overdyeing. “Tricks, tips and fun” will be generously shared as will many samples and examples. M505 TREASURES FROM AN OCEAN SHORE. Class is cancelled. Saturday Maxi Sessions, 9:00 – 11:30 AM and 2:00 – 4:30 PM Discover a new awareness of how the design process can be used by fiber artists. In the morning, join a make-believe walk on a real East Coast beach. Explore the shells and other “found” materials that have been gathered for you. A discussion of the principles of design will provide you with the tools to take a closer look at the wonders of the seashore. Color, texture, line and form will be studied, using many samples. Spend the afternoon immersed in hands-on creativity. Each participant will have an opportunity to “adopt” a treasure and probe all of its design elements. Supplies: None.
