S221 TAPESTRY CROCHET EYEGLASS CASE Saturday Afternoon Mini-Session, 2:00 – 4:30 Tapestry crochet enables an artist to create unique and sturdy three dimensional pieces with only a few dollars worth of equipment. It differs from ordinary crochet in its texture, tension and how colors are worked. Participants will make an eyeglass case and, after finishing, they will learn how to block their work. Once the technique is mastered, students will be able to crochet shoulderbags, change purses, or pillows on their own by simply increasing the size of the project. Students must be familiar with the single crochet stitch. Supplies: Motifs to incorporate into crocheted
piece (optional); crochet hooks; scissors.
M609 "FLAT" TAPESTRY CROCHET Sunday Maxi Sessions, 9:00 – 11:30 AM and 2:00 – 4:30 PM Tapestry crochet enables an artist to create unique and sturdy tapestries with only a few dollars worth of equipment. It differs from ordinary crochet in its texture, tension and how colors are worked. Unlike traditional crochet, flat tapestry crochet does not show the back of the stitch on every other row. By using one of two special techniques, the front of the stitch is always on the face of the tapestry and the back of the stitch is always on the reverse of the piece. Participants will execute a small flat tapestry over the 5-hour period. After the pieces have been finished, participants will learn how to shape and block their work. Students must be familiar with the single crochet stitch. Supplies: : Bring any motifs that
you wish to incorporate into your crocheted piece (optional); crochet hooks;
scissors.
